About Statement

Statement started as a way for me to take my corporate communications agency experience, and offer real people help with their business ventures. I’m all about knowing what you stand for, and finding simple and effective ways to communicate that. While most of my experience is with big brands, more recently it has been at a much more local level – where smart people have great ideas and need support to make a mark.

Liberty Mckinlay: Founder & Principal

I’m a degree qualified, award-winning communications expert with over 15 years experience across Australia, Asia and North America. Having worked as a PR agency partner to some of the world’s biggest brands, I’m highly attuned to what makes news and the best way to engage your audience.

My experience spans consumer and corporate sectors – having held long-term client partnerships with brands like Singapore Airlines, Procter & Gamble, Kao Brands (Jergens, John Frieda, Curel), IKEA, Johnson & Johnson Pacific, George Weston Foods, Electronic Arts, Westfield, Macquarie Group, HSBC, Darrell Lea, and Nestle.

I’m a consultant who has helped the most mundane supermarket brands get noticed; generated worldwide media coverage for planes, trains and automobiles; attracted 300+ media and influencers to major store launches; mitigated risk for companies and executives when the proverbial hit the fan; sourced, trained and supported company and celebrity spokespeople; and much more. Whenever one of my clients was in the spotlight, I was behind them holding their corporate hand.

Since having children I have sought a return to the table at a more real, local level. I love hearing about new or existing ventures and helping people articulate their message and tell a story. If you are a business, product or service and need to bounce it around with a communications person – that’s me. I can create fundamental communication pieces that will help you in your business every day.

What does Statement stand for?

  • You only get that ‘first look’ opportunity once so don’t go out half-baked.

  • I bet you have a better chance of telling me that, than reciting the 10 commandments. That’s the power of story telling.

  • Say what you mean and mean what you say. People don’t buy what they don’t understand. Don’t be so clever that your message gets lost.

  • I will help you marry the need for detail and process with a high level view. What will people really care about?

  • They are your guiding lights. whether it’s your website copy, a letter to your customers, an advertisement or even a discussion with a prospective client - key messages are the building blocks of good communication.

  • Have intimate and personal conversations with people who matter, versus a megaphone approach to all. I’d rather see you spend your time on 2 simple strategies if that’s what it takes to move the needle.

  • You can’t sell what you can’t explain.

  • I pride myself on being very attentive, detailed and service oriented. This however also extends to my children and family who are my number one priority. This means that I’m selective with my projects and only take on what I can service in the time that I have.
